Manteo – Reda Mae Perry Midgett was born on Tuesday, August 9, 1932, in Kitty Hawk, NC, to the late Leon Hardy Perry and Eva O’Neal Perry, both of Kitty Hawk. She went home to Glory on Monday, July 22, 2019, at her home in Manteo, NC, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Lee Perry, and a sister, Leola Perry Toler.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Edison Wilton Midgett of the home and five children: Annette Scarborough (Ricky Sr.), Ramona Wescott (Stuart), Gary Midgett (Jeanie), Amy Gamiel (Bobby) and Kenny Midgett (Sandy). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Ricky Jr., Neil and Heath Scarborough; Jamie and Kevin Wescott and Anastasia Wescott Smith; Dailey Rollinson and Parker Midgett; Kassie Mount, Kait Daniels and Reed Midgett; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind sister Doris Perry Pruitt and sister-in-law Melba Scarborough Perry, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Reda was a longtime member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church where she served faithfully in a variety of capacities. She was also a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary and the Women’s Jail Ministry.

Reda’s most treasured role was as a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, who devoted her life to her family. Reda’s love for God was lived out in her unwavering love and dedication to her family.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Seals and Rev. Kenny Midgett officiating. Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends and relatives in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Private burial will take place at Austin Cemetery, Kitty Hawk.
