First Flight schools closed while bomb threat investigated

Dare County Schools issued a press release stating that Wednesday morning, December 18, the First Flight High School administration was alerted that someone posted a bomb threat on social media.

As a result, First Flight High School, First Flight Elementary School and First Flight Middle School in Kill Devil Hills will be closed December 18 for all staff and students as a precautionary measure while law enforcement conducted an extensive search of Flight Flight High School to investigate the bomb threat.

Around 10:15 a.m., Keith Parker, digital communications director for Dare County Schools, said he had received notification that the Dare County Sherriff’s Office had cleared FFHS from the bomb threat.

“Thank you for your patience during this incident,” stated the release. “The safety of our schools is our top priority.”

All First Flight High School sports for December 18 have been postponed.
