Manteo Rotary guest speakers share COA plans

Bob Woodard, chairman of the Dare County Board of Commissioners and College of The Albemarle trustee, and Dorothy Hester, Dare County public information officer, were guest speakers during the December 2 Manteo Rotary Club meeting.

Woodard shared the upcoming plans for the new COA campus, including that $14 million dollars has been allocated for the project in Dare County’s Capital Improvement Plan, with $1.5 million being state bond funds. Boomerang Design and Barnhill Contracting Company will work together to complete the design of the new campus. He also discussed the Dare County Schools Dual Enrollment program where there has been a 56% increase with 289 students enrolled in 615 courses.

The Manteo Rotary Club meets the first and third Mondays of the month at the Hungry Pelican at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend a meeting.
