Quilters brighten up mealtimes for Hatteras Island Meals recipients

Published 2:09 am Friday, December 27, 2019

Hatteras Island Quilters made festive, quilted placemats for clients of Hatteras Island Meals. The group crafted 55 placemats to brighten the holiday season for all those who receive Hatteras Island Meals delivered by volunteers. The quilters gathered after a holiday gift exchange and luncheon and presented the placemats to Mike Tidd, president of the meals program on Hatteras Island.

The Hatteras Island Quilters meet Monday mornings from 9:30 to noon at the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club on Light Plant Road in Buxton. Regular gatherings continue Jan. 6, 2020.

Hatteras Island Meals serves around 40 people who are homebound on Hatteras Island. The volunteer organization operates on donations, which can be made online at hatterasislandmeals.org or by mail to P.O. Box 854, Buxton, NC 27920.
