Fireworks approved for Moyock display

Currituck County Board of Commissioners during a special meeting at Barco on Friday, December 20, approved a request from Eagle Creek Golf Club and Grill to use pyrotechnics for a New Year’s Eve fireworks display at the golf club.

According to Randall W. Edwards, information and communications officer for Currituck County, pyrotechnics are illegal throughout the county and the review by commissioners enables them to verify an approved, professional pyrotechnic company is handling the public display.

“We like to make sure somebody is not just going out and shooting fireworks on their own,” said Edwards.

Edwards also said that there have been no other requests for New Year’s Eve fireworks displays. Currituck County does hold a big display July 4. The Eagle Creek event is not a county display.

Eagle Creek Golf Club and Grill is on Green View Road in Moyock.
