Mrs. Shirley “Joyce” Scarborough, 82, of Hatteras, died January 4, 2020 in Chesapeake, Va.  A viewing will be held January 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. The service will be held January 9 at 2 p.m.  Both services will be held in Buxton at Lighthouse Assembly of God and will be officiated by Pastor Eric Hinson.

Joyce was born July 29, 1937 in Williamston. In 1957, in Elizabeth City, Joyce met Bobby Scarborough who was serving in the US Coast Guard. On September 13, 1957, they were married and remained married for over 62 years. Joyce’s life was committed to serving the Lord and she was devoted to her husband, children and family. She dedicated her spare time to ministering to children of all ages.

She is survived by husband Bobby Scarborough; children Jennifer Davis, Bob Scarborough Jr. and Randy Vargas; grandchildren David Christiansen and Christie Menciano; three great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Carelli and Mildred Gurganus; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
