On the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center, the Currituck County Master Gardener Speakers Bureau provides quality horticultural information as a public service. All speakers are Master Gardener volunteers who have completed the N.C. State University Master Gardener training program.

Jodi Lockhart, Currituck Master Gardener, will instruct the first Speakers Bureau topic for 2020, “Houseplants for Clean Air.” It will be held January 16 and cover several varieties of houseplants that can remove harmful toxins from the air. Learn about the best air-purifying plants for your home, from spider plants to Gerbera daisies. Attendees will learn how to correctly identify, select and care for indoor plants. All participants will receive at least one free plant and detailed instructions for its care.

The following presentation on solitary bees will be held on February 20. Don Campbell, a Pasquotank Master Gardener, will teach about solitary bees and how you can make your own simple “Air Bee and Bee” for these great garden guests.
