Norman Steele joined the Manteo Police Department on Dec. 23.

He was sworn in by town clerk Becky Breiholz as his son Connor held the Bible and wife Jennifer looked on.

Investigator Steele was previously employed as an investigator with the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office.
