The Dare County Department of Public Works announced that no commercial business debris will be picked up. The department asks people not to interfere with county employees picking up large items.

Put items to be picked up at the curbside no later than 6 a.m. on the collection day. Be mindful of overhead power lines and place items so that county trucks will not contact the lines.

If the county does not take an item(s) placed on the roadside, it has been rejected and must be disposed of at the owner’s expense.

On this special pick‐up, the county collects appliances, furniture, mattresses and box springs. Remove doors from refrigerators. Items also collected are used auto tires, used motor oil in spill proof containers, scrap metal and dried-out, water-based paint.

County workers will not pick up old clothes, yard debris, construction/demolition materials or hazardous materials like pesticides and oil-based paint.
