WEDNESDAY, Jan. 22

 Library Garden Series. 11 a.m. to noon at Dare County Library. Topic: Integrated Pest Management. Formulate a pest management plan to manage pests such as weeds and insects in your landscape and garden. This program provides information on strategies that are a combination of common sense and scientific principles. All programs are free and reservations are not required.

History for Lunch: Music of the Vietnam War. Noon to 1 p.m. at the Museum of the Albemarle. 501 S. Water St., Elizabeth City. Douglas Jackson of Elizabeth City State University will discuss music of the Vietnam era in collaboration with our exhibit “A Thousand Words: Photographs by Vietnam Veterans.” Free and open to the public. Mandala Workshops. 4 to 7 p.m. at Dare County Arts Council in Manteo. Artist Melanie Bortz will be teaching classes involving the art of mandala creation, basic and simple patterns to a more advanced flow of lines through sacred geometry.
