A person plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
What is guidance: Webster’s suggests it is advice or information aimed at resolving a problem or difficulty. And if we are honest, each of us probably needs guidance in abundance. No, we don’t know everything but don’t tell my 7 year old grandson that!! Caring guidance and direction are necessary for our spiritual growth.
We are faced with so many decisions and choices each day. But where do we go to find this guidance that we need? But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. There it is. Guidance is freely given to those that seek.
We aren’t to conform to what everyone else is doing. We need to renew our minds and be fresh and alert to the voice of God and His Ways so that we can discern God’s will. (Romans 12:2). True that God does give us free will but He walks along side of us to nudge us along the way. This keeps us on the straight and narrow path.
On many occasions we can discern as to what God would have us do through prayer. However, He may bring us a wise friend to counsel us or we may see a verse in the Bible that we feel was handpicked for our situation. That’s God confirming His guidance when it comes back around to us in more than one way. That is our green light to move forward.
