DWI checkpoint leads to felony arrest

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office reported that in the evening hours of February 12, 2020, their office conducted a Governor’s Highway Safety Program DWI checkpoint near Pirate’s Cove.

According to DCSO, while checking a driver’s license, a B-District deputy noticed a marijuana pipe in the door pocket of a vehicle and marijuana was then located on the person operating the vehicle.

Quajai Allen Keith, 21, of Elizabeth City, was arrested for possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana and taken to the Dare County Detention Center. He was released on a $6,000 secured bond.
