Jane Saunders Overton, 71, of Elizabeth City, died February 23, 2020 at her residence with family at her side. She was born May 2, 1948 in Chowan County to the late Ervin Roger Saunders and Anna Perry Saunders and was the wife of the late Donald Richard Overton. Jane was a licensed practical nurse for 45 years and worked many of those years at Winslow Nursing Home. She was a member of the Nixonton Home Extension Club.

She is survived by daughter Deanna Overton Byrum; son Bryan Richard Overton and wife Wendy, all of Elizabeth City; grandchildren Mackenzie Byrum, Will Overton and Wes Overton; brother  Roger Perry Saunders and wife Ann of Siler City; sister-in-law Beverly Saunders of Charlotte; and extended family. She was preceded in death by brother John Ervin Saunders.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on February 27 at Twiford Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Rob Tucker. The family will greet friends in the lobby of the funeral home following the service and at all other times at the residence.
