The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced Tuesday, February 25 that the Rose Bay Canal boat launch will remain closed until fallen trees from storm events are cleared.

Approximately 26 large trees have fallen across the Rose Bay canal that enters Lake Mattamuskeet. A contractor will be on site in March to begin removing the trees and restoring access to the lake.

Once the trees are cleared, USFWS will announce that the boat launch is open to the public. All other launches will open as planned on March 1.
