2020 Sandlot Tournament at Cape Hatteras postponed

On Thursday, March 12, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association suspended all athletic competition statewide starting at 11:59 p.m., Friday, March 13 through Monday, April 6.

As a result, the 2020 Cape Hatteras Secondary Sandlot Tournament was postponed, not cancelled.

Cape Hatteras head varsity baseball coach Keith Durham will work with the teams to find a Saturday later in the season for the four teams to play. Competing in the tournament are Currituck, Manteo, Bear Grass Charter high schools and Cape Hatteras Secondary.

The sports suspension includes all workouts, skill development, practices and contests.

Dare County Schools Superintendent John Farrelly has also suspended all out of county travel indefinitely. “This includes all field trips, meetings and professional development,” said Farrelly in a prepared announcement.
