The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported that on April 4, 2020 at around 2 p.m., a DCSO deputy and investigator working the Manns Harbor check point stopped an individual from California who was attempting to enter the county.

According to DCSO, deputies “smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle” and a search of the vehicle turned up around 13 pounds of marijuana and undisclosed amounts of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, ecstasy and LSD. An undisclosed amount of US currency was also seized. The DCSO Narcotics Division assisted with the case.

David Warren Raney, 61, of Willow Creek, Calif., was arrested for felony trafficking in marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance. Raney is being held on a $20,000 secured bond.
