Dare County announces 16th COVID-19 case

In the Dare County COVID-19 update video Thursday afternoon, April 30, a 16th positive COVID-19 case was reported. Prior to this case, the reported number of positive tests results in Dare County has remained at 15 for the past 18 days, according to a Dare County bulletin released Wednesday.

Of the 16th case, Dare County Health and Human Services Director Sheila Davies stated the county received notification of the positive test result Thursday. She said the individual resides in Dare County and is recovering in isolation at home. Davies also stated that the case appears to be associated with direct contact involving work outside the area and is not indicative of community spread. Notification of direct contacts has been completed by Health Department staff.

Of the 16 cases reported in Dare, one is active, 14 have recovered and one person died.

In North Carolina, as of April 30, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is reporting 10,509 cases across 98 counties, with 546 currently hospitalizes and 378 fatalities.

Davies also addressed two new resources available on the county’s website, one focusing on telehealth services and another focusing on the business community, which includes an overview of the governor’s executive orders, information on cleaning and disinfecting as well as other business-related concerns.
