Nancy Vanderhoof, patient scheduling coordinator in the Ambulatory Medical Unit, was named The Outer Banks Hospital’s March, 2020 Employee of the Month. She started as a patient access representative in admissions in April of 2008.  In 2016, she made the move to the AMU where she has become an important member of the team.

Vanderhoof makes it her goal to be sure that every patient has the best experience possible while in the AMU, stated an OBH press release. “She values their time, tries to accommodate their schedules, and makes each patient feel special. She creates a therapeutic environment for the patients with their favorite music and beverage.”

“Always pleasant and thoughtful, Vanderhoof goes above and beyond to lend a helping hand. She identifies opportunities to assist others, to bring new ideas to the table, and does not hesitate to take care of tasks and responsibilities that need to be done. She ensures that each patient has all the information they need for care coordination, and she communicates effectively with her team about patient care,” the release continued.
