Carroll Davidson Jones Sr., 91, of Newport News, Va. (formerly of Portsmouth, Va.) died May 3, 2020 at The Chesapeake Assisted Living Community in Newport News. Born in Meridian, Miss. on May 14, 1928, to the late Clyde C. Jones and Mary Bailey Jones, he was the youngest of four sons. Carroll was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Audrey Jean Riggs Jones of Elizabeth City. Carroll was a 20 year veteran, serving in both the US Navy and US Air Force. He also retired as an HVAC mechanic, working with Nelson and Smith and the Chesapeake Public School System. He attended Denbigh Christian Church and was an active member of the Denbigh Community Center.

He is survived by five sons and their wives, Dave Jones (Rachael), Thomas Jones (Rebekah), James Jones (Irene), Kenneth Jones (Susan), and Michael Jones (Cindy); twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 8 at New Hollywood Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Clifton Manuel. Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City is serving the Jones family. Online memorial condolences may be sent to the family at www.TwifordFH.com.
