Gary Harris of Columbia tried his luck with the $1,000,000 Win It All scratch-off and scored a $1 million top prize.

Harris bought his lucky $10 ticket at the Food Lion on U.S. 64 East in Columbia.

According to a press release from NC Education Lottery, Harris claimed his prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He had a choice of taking the $1 million as an annuity of $50,000 per year over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. Harris chose the lump sum and after federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $424,503.

NC Education Lottery reports that ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $700 million per year for education.
