Benjamin M. Gallop was appointed to the position of town attorney by the Manteo Board of Commissioners at their May 6 meeting. Gallop replaces Wyatt Booth, who resigned in January after the commissioners failed to routinely reappoint him.

Gallop is a partner with the Nags Head law firm of Hornthal, Riley, Ellis & Maland. He has been with the law firm for nearly 15 years. Since 2008, Ben has served as the town attorney for the Town of Southern Shores and the Town of Hertford. He is 43 years old and lives on Roanoke Island with his wife and two daughters.

Gallop says he enjoys the Outer Banks lifestyle and finds working with town governments rewarding. He said he is excited and is looking forward to working with the Town of Manteo.
