The first of what organizers hope is an ongoing community outreach will launch on Saturday, May 16 in Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo. Lifeline Outreach OBX and Mise en Place are teaming up to provide a free meal to anyone who wants one as long as the food lasts.

The soup kitchen will feature Hatteras style clam chowder and begin serving Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo community building located at 23186 Myrna Peters Road in Rodanthe. The event is open to residents and visitors.

Wade Weigel, the president of Lifeline Outreach OBX food pantry says it is a chance for people to get out and enjoy a meal that will be served from a food truck following social distancing guidelines directly to their car. Weigel said the event was made possible by community donations and he hopes additional meals will be planned in the future.
