On May 18 at approximately 1:55 a.m., the Kill Devil Hills Police Department reports that an individual broke into Jubilee Music Store in Kill Devil Hills and stole over $9,000 in merchandise.

According to KDHPD, a concerned citizen noticed that a window of Jubilee was damaged and notified law enforcement around 7 a.m. that same morning. Officers arrived on scene to discover that the store had been broken into.

“After meeting with the store owners, it was determined that several guitars had been stolen along with other items,” a KDHPD release stated. The stolen items were:

– A Gibson Les Paul Double; valued at $6,999.

– A Gibson Les Paul 120th anniversary; valued at $1,400.

– A Gibson SG (copy) with lightning bolts on the front; valued at $999.

– A fourth guitar; make and model pending.

– An amplifier and guitar straps.

The suspect was captured on the store’s security cameras. “We’re thinking they were infrared cameras,” said Captain John Towler of KDHPD.

The suspect is described as slender white male, approximately 5’8” in height and wearing a helmet. “He is seen moving through the store and carefully selecting which instruments he is going to steal. The male stacked the stolen items outside the store,” read the release.

The individual was operating a moped and wearing a gray and black sweatshirt, blue pants and dark colored tennis shoes. He had on a white backpack with an orange stripe. The helmet he was wearing was black with gray stripes, with a gray and black sword on the back.

KDH investigators are reviewing evidence. Towler said investigators are “trying to get something to play it [the videos] here so we can get better screen grabs” for identification.

The security video was made public by Jubilee Music Store via their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/jubileemusicobx.  If anyone recognizes the individual in question, they are asked to call the police department or Crime Line.
