New urology practice opens in Nags Head

The Outer Banks Hospital and Medical Group has announced the opening of Outer Banks Urology in the hospital’s medical office building. The practice will temporarily share space with Outer Banks Women’s Care while renovation of the permanent location across from the Outer Banks Mall is completed.

“We welcome urologist Amanda Pettibone-Pond, MD as our new provider,” stated a press release from the hospital.

Pettibone-Pond, a graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, is board certified in urology.

Since completing the urology residency program at the University of Tennessee in 2016, she has worked at an Indiana University School of Medicine affiliated community practice with four urologists managing men’s and women’s urological health.

“I’m looking forward to bringing urology services back to the Outer Banks,” she said. “They are greatly needed in the area.”

Pettibone-Pond and her husband have relocated to the Outer Banks.

“The Outer Banks Urology team will work closely with colleagues at The Outer Banks Hospital and, as necessary, rely on the expertise of Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, the region’s only academic medical center,” stated the release.

Outer Banks Medical Group is a Vidant Medical Group partner and is affiliated with The Outer Banks Hospital.
