North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation P-4-2020 opened provisional pot areas in Pamlico Sound and Pamlico, Bay and Neuse Rivers effective 12:01 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2020, through 11:59 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.

The proclamation applies to crab, eel, fish and shrimp pots.

In Hyde County, pots may be set in Lone Tree Creek and Mt. Pleasant Bay in Wysocking Bay; Juniper Bay, Swan Quarter Bay, Deep Cove, Rose Bay and Spencer Bay.

The proclamation also lists four areas in Pamlico River, four areas in Pamlico County; three in Bay River; and four in Spencer Bay.

“The intent of this proclamation is to allow pots to be used in provisional pot areas currently not being utilized extensively by long haul operations due to the variable seasonal distribution of finfish, fisheries targeting finfish, and recreational uses,” states the proclamation.
