John “Pimp” Theus, 78, of Manteo, died June 23, 2020 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

Born in Ringgold, La. on November 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Jeff and Catherine Williams Theus.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by brothers Bill and Jeff Theus.

Survivors include wife Judy Theus; daughters Joyce Theus-Ree and Mary Theus; son Elder John Theus Jr., all of Kansas City, Mo., 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; brother Haywood Theus of Houston, Texas and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

John worked and retired from the Dare County School System in grounds maintenance.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on July 2 at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo with Elder Dwight Spruill officiating.
