The Subway restaurant chain is now asking customers to conceal their firearms when coming into its stores across the nation.

The Raleigh News & Observer reported Wednesday that the policy change comes two months after photos showed gun-toting customers visiting a store in the North Carolina city.

The Connecticut-based company has posted the change on the policy section of its website. The policy does not apply to law enforcement.

“Subway respectfully requests that guests (other than authorized law enforcement) refrain from openly displaying firearms inside restaurants — even in states where ‘open carry’ is permitted,” the policy states.

In May, a photographer for The News & Observer captured images of a man carrying an AT4 rocket launcher in a Subway in Raleigh. The rock launcher had a sticker saying “inert” on it. It was slung over his back with two pistols in holsters on his waist.

Photos showed another person carrying a pump-action shotgun. Another photo shows a man sitting with a shotgun propped on a bench while holding a sandwich.
