The 5th Annual Halloween International Film Festival is moving online. Originally scheduled to return to Kill Devil Hills this year from October 1-3, in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and with the health and safety of attendees and staff in mind, festival organizers have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s in-person screenings and events, but a virtual edition with screenings streamed online is in the works.

Original independent film submissions are currently being accepted for consideration for the 2020 festival program through FilmFreeway. Films may be submitted in either the short film category (under 50 minutes) or feature film category (runtime of 50 minutes or more). The final deadline for film festival submissions is July 31.

A 20% submission fee discount remains available to all filmmakers with the code “HalloweenDaily,” and a 60% discount is available for any films produced entirely or partly in North Carolina. The code for this North Carolina-specific discount will be provided upon request and interested filmmakers can contact halloweenfilmfestival@gmail.com to inquire further. Entry fee waivers are also available for eligible locally-produced Outer Banks-based productions upon request.
