As Isaias was heading north, Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative reported three outages remained at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4 and by 9 a.m., crews were wrapping up those problems. The cooperative reported 40 outages overall. Crews worked during the night to restore power. By sunrise, only three outages remained. Engineers are now inspecting the transmission poles.

At 5 a.m., Tideland Electric Corporation reported a total of 12,750 outages.

The electric provider reported that its damage assessment teams would start south of the Pamlico River around 7:30 a.m. All Tideland mainland offices will be closed to the public Tuesday in order to respond to outages.

Outages by Tideland Substation: Edward 2,873; Engelhard 50; Fairfield Harbour 1,959; Five Points 497; Pantego 1,605; Plymouth 448; Ponzer 139; Sidney 1,336; Silverhill 2,831; Swindell Fork 393; Washington 619.

Systemwide, Dominion Energy has 299,228 outages out of 2,623,387 customers.

In northeastern North Carolina at 9 a.m., Dare County had 2,958 outages; Tyrrell 320; Currituck 7,488; Camden 1,394; Pasquotank 1,084.

As of 8 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, North Carolina Emergency Management reports 369,978 power outages recorded across the state. A majority of these outages are in the eastern portion of North Carolina.

In Bertie County, a likely tornado touched down in the Morning Road area called Cedar Landing in Windsor around 1:30 a.m., Tuesday. Bertie County Board Chairman Ron Wesson confirmed to on-the-scene reporters that one death occurred and that 20 citizens were transported for injuries. Three people are missing.

 

For Dare County, the Storm Surge Warning remains in place along with tropical storm force winds. When winds switched to southwest, minor soundside flooding was reported in Rodanthe as well as downtown Manteo.

Twice during this storm, Stumpy Point experienced flooding. During the night of the storm, sound water reportedly came up for about 1.5 hours and it came up again when winds shifted. Parts of the mainland village was also experiencing a power outage.

Around 9 a.m., Tuesday, winds in Frisco registered 21 miles per hour from the west with gusts to 38. In Rodanthe, southwest winds were blowing 32 miles per hour with gusts to 41.
