Youth fishing tournament brings out kids for friendly competition

The Miss Oregon Inlet Headboat hosted the 6th Annual Youth Fishing Tournament on Friday, August 7 at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Forty-two kids took a three-hour fishing trip and competed within the two age groups (6-10 and 11-14) for the first fish, most fish and biggest fish.

Each child was given a Miss Oregon Inlet t-shirt, stickers, a participation medal and a fishing pole. This event was sponsored by Kitty Hawk Kites, Oregon Inlet Fishing Center and Island Insurance Agency.

All proceeds from the tournament were donated to Crosstrail Outfitters.  A check for $1,000 was accepted by Crosstrail Outfitters director Mike Johnson.

6-10 age group winners

First Fish: Brody Doyle, 10 years old – 7” croaker

Most Fish: Brady Langman, 10 years old – 14 fish

Biggest Fish: Riley Myer, 10 years old – 13” flounder

11-14 age group winners

First Fish: Isabella Tillett, 11 years old – 6.5” croaker

Most Fish: Jaxon Langman, 11 years old – 7 fish

Biggest Fish: Ayden Vasquez, 12 years old – 12” Bluefish
