William Percy “Tadpole” Daniels was born on August 23, 1951 in Currituck. On October 5, 2020, he died at the age of 69.

He was the son of the late Greathen and Earl Cooper, and Mary Webster and Percy Daniels (Wanda). He was raised and spent most of his life in Manteo, where he attended school, before joining the US Army to serve his country at the age of 20.

He was preceded in death by mothers Greathen Cooper and Mary Webster; father Earl Cooper; grandmother Mary Tillett; his unnamed son; grandson Damar Daniels; great-granddaughter, Ny’Ari Skyee; brothers Richard Tillett and Daniel Saunders; and aunt Ida Golden.

He is survived by wife Debra White Daniels; children Chuquita Turner (Michael), Kelleta Govan (Bobby), Rashad Daniels, Kamari Daniels and Renese Holley; grandchildren: Shantel Herring, Adrian Golden, Marquita Govan, Kayla Holley, Tiera Daniels, Shawndre’ Daniels, Nicholas Holley, DaNeeka Govan, Asiah Turner, Shacarrilin Freeman and DeiJonna LeGrande; 15 great-grandchildren; a goddaughter; siblings Debbie Lindsey, Priscilla Jones, Carla Walcott, Phondia Saunders, Clara-Jean Wilson (Melvin), Arnold Sykes (Doris), John Lindsey (Sandy), Lindsey Saunders, Aulander Liverman (Kim), Thomas (Marjorie), Henry (Vanessa), Charlie (Louise), Sharon, Faye, Carrie, Jimmie Summerell (Dana); mother-in-law Hazel Lindsey; aunts Sarah, Maggie and Sandra; uncle Joe and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins extended family and friends.

A funeral was held October 9 on the grounds of Free Grace Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 843 Sir Walter Raleigh Street, Manteo. A graveside committal with military honors followed at Free Grace Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Cemetery, 1056 Burnside Road, Manteo.
