Joan “Joanie” Sharol Cullipher Canipe, age 71, of Rose Rd., Como, NC died Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at her home. Born in Columbia, NC on March 5, 1949 to the late Dennis Grady Cullipher and Lois Turner Guth, she retired from General Electric Corp. and then worked for several Outer Banks restaurants. Joanie was a member of the NC Beach Buggy Association, Nags Head Fishing Club, and Captain of the Blackbeard’s Babes Surf Fishing Team.

She is survived by two sisters, Denise Cullipher Jones and Carol Cullipher Rawls both of Elizabeth City, NC; a niece, Dorinda Hopkins Franklin; nephews, Richard Hopkins and Nicholas Jones; a dear cousin, Tillie Britton; several great nieces and nephews; three great-great nephews; and many, many friends.
