Manteo – Floyd “Ernie” Channell II, 45, of Manteo passed away November 3, 2020 in Chesapeake, VA after battling a lengthy illness. Ernie was born in Elkins, West Virginia and lived in Manteo, North Carolina for the past eight years. He loved it here. He was a loving, hard working, funny, never-knew-a stranger, kind hearted person. Ernie loved his family, being outdoors, fixing things, and helping others all the time. He was a maintenance man for local hotel and is loved and will be missed by many people.

Floyd was preceded in death by his Grandma and Grandpa Channell and his Grandma Valentine.

Surviving Floyd is his loving companion of 14 years, Amanda Edmond of Manteo; parents, Ralph and Kathryn Channell of West Virginia; children, Ashley, Jacob and Skylar Edmond, Shauntay, Ryan, Caitlin, Autumn, Arian Channell, Destiny Watson and Nathaniel Wilmore. He is also survived by his grandmother Karin Edmond; six grandchildren; two brothers, Rodney and Brad Channell and many other extended family members.
