Ida S. Beasley, loving wife and mother, passed away November 11, 2020 in Nags Head, NC. She was the daughter of the late Cecil and Ida Mae Sawyer of Gum Neck, North Carolina. Ida is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Wakeman Beasley and three brothers, Jack Sawyer, Ervin Sawyer, and John A. Sawyer.

Having grown up in Portsmouth, VA, Ida – at an early age – chose to spend her life with Allen Wakeman Beasley, former merchant marine and fisherman. It was on Little Colington Island that she chose to work side by side with her husband in the softshell crab industry.

Apart from being a valiant fighter against Cancer, Ida felt that her greatest achievement was her children. It was during this union of over 60 years of marriage that Allen and Ida produced four children: Mae Lunden (Bob); Terry Beasley (Stephanie), Sonia Beasley Baum; and Jeff Beasley (Connie). Five grandchildren also survive her; Ryan Merritt (Doreen) of Point Pleasant, NJ; Chris Merritt (Jessica) of Little Colington Island, Kill Devil Hills, Allen Lee Baum also of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Orrin Allen Beasley of The Dalles, Oregon, and Dana L. Kottas of Big Colington Island, Kill Devil Hills. Eight great-grandchildren: Thea, Brayden, Zane, Lilly, Ryder, Sam, Maddy, and Abby also survive as well as Ida’s two sisters, Gail Wilkins and Linda MacCampbell (Ben).
