Dare County Toys for Tots is on a mission to “to ensure no child goes without on Christmas.” As the big day approaches, there are still opportunities for those who wish to donate or volunteer to the annual effort and it is not too late for families in need to submit an application.

Collection boxes for the annual toy drive, which are located throughout Dare County, are being picked up this week to be sorted. The final boxes will be collected by December 12, however donations may also be made at the Toys for Tots distribution site located at Outlets Nags Head (formerly Tanger) between Carter’s and American Eagle on December 9 from 1-8 p.m., December 13 from 5-9 p.m. and December 17 from 1-8 p.m.

As of Saturday night, Dare County Toys for Tots coordinator Tony Hoggard said there were “375 kids on the list, but we are going up close to another 100 for a church group.” The group serves newborns through 16-year-olds. Hoggard noted that the organization typically receives the least donations for the 13-16 age range, and since educational items are gifted to each child, STEM items for all ages are also needed.
