Grandy – Rachel Marie Fleck passed away all too soon on December 8, 2020 at her home in Grandy, NC at the young age of 34. She was born in Long Branch, New Jersey to Sheryl and Michael Fleck, who currently reside in NC, Kill Devil Hills and Jarvisburg, respectively. There are no words to express the void that now exists in the lives of those who truly love her.

Rachel spent most of her childhood and adult years between New Jersey and North Carolina, attending First Flight Elementary and Middle School and then attended Toms River High School in New Jersey. She will be remembered for her artistic nature, love of animals, and beautiful soul. Though beautiful on the outside, Rachel was even more beautiful on the inside. Things like love, kindness, goodness, generosity, selflessness, and compassion are just some of the things that come to mind. Attributes such as these that others strive to obtain in order to be a good person came to her naturally and effortlessly. Rachel would go out of her way to ensure that her family and friends (furry ones as well) felt supported and loved. Rachel was a work in progress who had a gentle yet indomitable spirit. As she grew, she learned better how to protect herself especially her most precious part – her heart. She was thoughtful and expressive in her interactions with those she loved, always looking for ways to make others happy. She leaves behind her handcrafted creations be it jewelry, ornaments, and other treasures she made with love throughout the years for her family and friends.

She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, great niece, aunt, and cousin. She is survived by her mother, Sheryl Fleck of Kill Devil Hills and her father, Michael Fleck of Jarvisburg; her babies, Sailor, Gemini, Jake, Bobcat, and Velvet; her siblings, Jason Fleck (Heather) and Michael Fleck.; her grandmother, Mary Lou Leonard; her great aunt, Marjorie Redling; her aunts and uncles, Gigi Ward (Tracy), John Leonard, Claudia D’Esposito, Jimmy Fleck, Billy Fleck (Allison), Julie Ann Kubilay (Matt), Cathy Fleck, Margie Fleck, and Lisa Gore; her nieces and nephews, Autumn, Ruth, and Charlie; and her beloved friend, Ken Freeman. She is also survived by many first cousins who will greatly miss her.
