On Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, North Carolina reported 3,563 new lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Some 3,377 people are hospitalized with the virus on Dec. 29. Across the state, 2,031 ICU beds are occupied with coronavirus victims. Empty but staffed ICU beds number 397 statewide.

So far in this pandemic, 6,574 North Carolinians have died from COVID-19.

Statewide, 63,571 first doses of coronavirus vaccine have been administered as of 8 p.m., Dec. 28, 2020.

Dare County – On Tuesday, Dec. 29, Dare County’s dashboard revealed 22 more new lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus. In Tuesday’s dashboard account, Dare County reported 113 active positive cases with 102 people in home isolation and 11 persons hospitalized, an increase of two patients.

Of the 22 new cases, 12 were residents and 10 non-residents. The largest age ranges were 50-64 years old with nine cases and 25-49, which accounted for eight new cases.

Dare County’s cumulative total of coronavirus cases is 1,560 at Dec. 29.

Deaths remain the same, at five.

On the state’s County Alert System, Dare County is orange, showing substantial community spread. In Dare County, 241 first doses of coronavirus vaccine have been administered.

Hyde County – As of Dec. 23, the cumulative total of cases is 263. Some 42 are active, positive cases. Deaths from the coronavirus remain at five. On the state’s County Alert System, Hyde County is red, the highest of the three ratings. One person in Hyde County has received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

As a result of the increasing cases, Hyde County has restricted public access to county offices until Jan. 5, at which time the situation will be reevaluated. County manager Kris Cahoon Noble says “call before you come.”

Tyrrell County – On Dec. 28, Martin-Tyrrell-Washington Health District reported that Tyrrell County’s total, cumulative case number is now 168. Some 158 people have recovered. On Dec. 28, seven people had active positive cases. Three individuals have died in the county due to coronavirus. On the County Alert System, Tyrrell County is now orange, showing substantial community spread. Four persons in Tyrrell County have received first doses of coronavirus vaccine.

Camden, Currituck, Pasquotank counties – On Dec. 28, 2020, Albemarle Regional Health Services published the following case information:

Camden: 272 lab-confirmed cases, with 80 cases now active. Camden County has lost five people to the coronavirus. Camden is experiencing critical community spread noted with red. In Camden County, 17 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.

Currituck: 612 total lab-confirmed cases. Some 239 cases are active. Currituck County has lost 11 people to coronavirus. Currituck is now red, signaling critical community spread of the coronavirus. In Currituck, 21 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.

Pasquotank: 1,714 lab-confirmed cases. Active cases number 293. COVID-related deaths in the county number 43 people. In the County Alert System, Pasquotank is red, signifying critical community spread. In this county, 37 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.
