A $7500 gift from the Dare Education Foundation will allow schools in Dare County an opportunity to show appreciation for their teachers.

Each school site in the district received gifts based on teacher headcount, with the expectation that the money “honors and celebrates our educators, perhaps with a socially-distanced luncheon or an item that teachers at a school have craved for a long time,” stated a DEF press release.

DEF board member and retired teacher Jessica Loose proposed that DEF find a way to lift the spirits of teachers. “I’m elated that DEF was able to gift each school some ‘mad money’ to celebrate their teachers,” said Loose. “They are being asked to do more and more in these demanding times and deserve whatever we can send their way. Every little bit helps!”
