Dare County’s Veterans Advisory Council received a $2,500 stimulus grant from the Bob Woodruff Foundation. The grant will help the council address the impact of COVID-19 on veterans in Dare County.

“We’re proud to partner with National Veterans Intermediary, supporting veterans and their families where they live and work,” commented Richard Probst, chairman for the Dare County Veterans Advisory Council. “Our thanks to the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the NFL [National Football League] for the Local Partner stimulus grant to help us continue our important efforts during this time of even greater need.”

The council determined that the best use of the funds would be to distribute them through Interfaith Community Outreach, which provides assistance to individuals facing a temporary emergency crisis. The organization connects individuals in need with services in the community and provides financial assistance.

“It was a common sense solution for the VAC to provide the funds to ICO,” said Probst. “They have a reputation for helping those in Dare County in need. Additionally, they have an application and vetting process in place which assures those with the greatest need, get help.”

The Dare County Veterans Advisory Council donated an additional $1,400 of its funds for a total of $3,900 donated to Interfaith Community Outreach.
