North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation M-4-2021 implements a pound net closure period for all Internal Coastal Waters except western portions of the Albemarle Sound area and Currituck Sound.

The proclamation is effective at 6 p.m. on Jan. 20, 2021 when all pound set nets must be removed except in those areas noted above. The closure expires at midnight on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021.

The proclamation states “This action is being taken to further minimize interactions with threatened and/or endangered species in the pound net fishery.”
