James Donald (J.D.) Caldwell, 80, of Knotts Island, died February 2, 2021. He was a native of Marietta, Ga., born on April 20, 1940 to James Loyd Caldwell and Mae Belle Rogers.

James served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard.

Mr. Caldwell is survived by wife Martha (Sue) Caldwell, son James Gerald Caldwell (Shari) and step-daughter Tracy Bryan (Gary); brothers and sisters, twin Loyd Arnold Caldwell (Josephine), J.M. Caldwell (Diane), Joe Caldwell (Barbara), Barbara G. Kadner and Teresa Hamilton (Joe); grandchildren  Miranda Martin, Caleb Martin (Brittany), Kasey Bryan (Joshua), Amy Williams and Kelly Mann (Matthew); and four great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.

James’ memorial service will be held at Knotts Island Baptist Church on February 20 at 1 p.m. Pastor Jack Sauls and Rev. William Thorn will officiate. COVID-19 precautions will be observed. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to Knotts Island Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
