Rosa Lee Barnes Ainsley, 88, of Columbia, died Thursday, February 4, 2021, at her home.

She was born in Tyrrell County on March 7, 1932, to the late Leichester “Lee” and Dixie Vernon Holloway Barnes.  She was married to William Alton Ainsley, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Rosa Lee was a strong lady and a hard worker that spent her working years caring for her family as a homemaker. Her Lord, family, home, and church were the center of her heart. She loved to travel and enjoyed visiting her children, as she was a mother committed to her family. She had many hobbies and was a member of the Cabin Swamp Church of Christ.

A private funeral service will be held at Cabin Swamp Church of Christ in Columbia, NC. The service will be officiated by Raphael Farrow, Gregg Brookins, and Davin Phillips. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are three sons, Glenn A. Ainsley of Greenville, William “Bill” A. Ainsley Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, and Bryan D. Ainsley of Columbia; three daughters, Bonnie A. Hunt and husband, Wayne of Boaz, Alabama, Connie A. Davis and husband, Duane of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dana A. Elliott and husband, Joey of Columbia; grandchildren Jason Ainsley, Ryan Ainsley, Kevin Ainsley, Joshua Ainsley, Hannah Ainsley-Wall, Kelly Weatherly, Lindsey Salee, Ben Davis, Joshua Davis, Joy Davis, Nathan Ainsley, Austin Ainsley, Devin Elliott, Cameron Elliott, Ashlin Elliott; and fifteen great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a brother, David Lee Barnes and wife Millie of Camden, NC, and sister, Peggy Wintjen of Edna, Kansas

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Katie Weatherly.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to Cabin Swamp Church of Christ, P.O. Box 269, Columbia, NC  27925.
