David Carlton Watson Jr., 71, of Hertford, died February 8, 2021 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. He was born in Durham on November 16, 1949 to the late David Carlton Watson and Rose Murray Watson. David served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps serving with the 1^st Marine Division, 1^st Combat Engineer, 3^rd Battalion, 5^th Marine Regiment.

He is survived by daughters Jessica Long (Brandon) and Katie Watson; sister Linda Garrett; brothers Jeff Watson and Steve Watson; companion Shearl Adkins; and grandchildren Damion, Tye and Harley. He was predeceased by sister Sherry Watson.

A service will be held at a later date at Hudson Funeral Home in Durham.  Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City is assisting the family. www.TwifordFH.com.
