The Executive Board of Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County (CYP) has announced that Sara Sampson is the organization’s new executive director, effective January 2021. Nancy Griffin retired at the end of 2020 after serving as CYP’s executive director since 2015.

“Sara brings with her a wealth of experience working on behalf of children, youth, parents, and families in Dare County. She has spent the last 15 years working in different capacities with CYP and has developed a great awareness of the unique strengths and needs of the Dare County community,” stated a CYP press release. “Most recently, Sara served as the Interim Executive Director since May of 2020. Prior to her last role, she was the Assistant Director of Family Support and Program Evaluations at CYP.”

Michelle Lewis, board co-chair noted, “We are excited for Sara to step into this new role, and are confident that her passion for the children and youth of Dare County, along with her love for the Outer Banks, will continue to lead CYP into a bright future; CYP is rising to the challenge of meeting the needs of an expanding population while fostering a community that supports all children and families in Dare County. Having worked with CYP’s former directors who coached and mentored her, Sara is prepared to lead the organization. We are looking forward to continuing our work together with our community partners to ensure that our children, youth, families and community thrive.”
