Commercial striped bass opens in Albemarle Sound Management Area

North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation FF-16-2021 opens the harvest of striped bass taken for commercial purposes in the Albemarle Sound Management Area and sets the commercial harvest limit.

The proclamation is effective at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. The commercial harvest season shall close by proclamation when the harvest allocation is reached or at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021.

The daily harvest limit for standard commercial fishing license holders is set at 10 striped bass taken with other species of finfish.

The fishing license holder must transport and accompany each single harvest limit until the time of sale to a dealer possessing a valid 2020/2021 striped bass dealer permit validated for the Albemarle Sound Management Area.

The intent of this proclamation is to manage the commercial harvest of striped bass in the Albemarle Sound Management Area within the 25,608 pound annual harvest quota established by the November 2020 Revision to Amendment 1 of the North Carolina Estuarine Striped Bass Fishery Management Plan.
