Four injured in Grandy structure fire

First responders were dispatched just after midnight on Friday, March 5 to a structure fire in Grandy.
Lower Currituck Volunteer Fire Department Chief Vernon Brooks Hart Jr. stated that when the first fire unit arrived, the structure was fully involved within minutes.

Two adults and two small children escaped the residence and all four were transported to Norfolk General hospital with injuries, according to Hart. As of Saturday, their condition was unknown.
It was reported that it took around two hours control the fire and fire units cleared the incident two hours after that at 4 a.m.

The structure was a total loss and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

No injuries of any emergency service personnel were reported.

Fire departments and units that responded were Lower Currituck Volunteer Fire Department, Crawford Volunteer Fire Department, Moyock Volunteer Fire Department, Southern Shores Fire Department, Corolla Fire and Rescue, Currituck County Fire EMS and Currituck County Sheriff’s Office.
