COVID-19 update: Vaccinations opening up in several counties

North Carolina opens Group 4 for vaccinating March 17. The new group begins with people with high-risk medical conditions.

Locally, Dare County and Hyde County are open for registration for anyone wanting a coronavirus vaccination. Albemarle Regional Health Services is now compiling its waiting list for all those who wish vaccination.

On March 15, North Carolina had 1,337 new coronavirus cases. Some 11,709 North Carolinians have died from the virus. Hospitals count 976 people with COVID-19.

Dare County – To sign up for vaccination, go online to darenc.com, click COVID-19 and then vaccine information or call 252-475-5008.

As of March 15, 2021, Dare County’s death count remains at 14.

The total number of cumulative COVID-19 cases in Dare County is 2,850 on March 15. From Friday through Monday, March 12 through 15, the county registered 25 additional cases.

Active positive resident cases number 33 according to the county’s dashboard, with 31 in home isolation and two hospitalized.

In Dare, 10,128 people are partially vaccinated and 8,340 people are fully vaccinated, including two doses and one dose Johnson & Johnson. Some 2,274 people have appointments and 2,401 people are on the waiting list for shots.

At March 15, Peak Resources in Nags Head remains on the outbreak list as does the Dare County Detention Center.

Hyde County – On March 15, Hyde County Health Department reported 642 total cumulative cases with only one active positive case. Deaths remain at eight persons. Some 2,902 shots have been administered. Of that total, 975 are fulling vaccinated and 1,627 are partially vaccinated.

Hyde County Health Department asks that those interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine call the COVID-19 line as soon as possible to pre-register and get on the list to receive a vaccine. Pre-registrations are now accepted from all, regardless of which group, for COVID-19 vaccination. Call 252-926-4467 to pre-register to receive a vaccine appointment at the Hyde County Health Department.

Tyrrell County – Martin-Tyrrell-Washington Health District writes that Tyrrell County, on March 15, has no new cases in the county, but six cases are active. Six individuals have died in the county due to coronavirus. Tyrrell House, a residential care facility, remains on the congregant living outbreak list.

In Tyrrell County, 919 people are partially vaccinated and 580 are fully vaccinated as of March 15, according to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard.

Camden, Currituck, Pasquotank counties – Albemarle Regional Health Service is compiling a wait list for all individuals in its eight-county region who still need COVID-19 vaccine. The clinics are open to all residents and are experiencing very low wait times. Fill out contact information at surveymonkey.com/r/ARHSCOVIDWaitList.

Albemarle Regional Health Services has posted the following case information as of March 14:

Camden: 606 lab-confirmed cases, with 12 cases now active. Camden County has lost five people to the coronavirus. In Camden, 2,248 people are partially vaccinated and 1,176 people are fully vaccinated, according to the state’s dashboard.

Currituck: 1,413 total lab-confirmed cases are counted. Some 15 cases are active. Currituck County has lost 15 people to coronavirus. Currituck Health and Rehabilitation Center remains on the outbreak list. In Currituck, 5,299 people are partially vaccinated and 3,462 are fully vaccinated, according to the state’s dashboard.

Pasquotank: 3,124 lab-confirmed cases. Active cases number 18. COVID-related deaths in the county number 78 people. In Pasquotank, 10,252 people are partially vaccinated and 7,011 are fully vaccinated, according to the state’s dashboard. Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation, Citadel Elizabeth City, Waterbrooke and Brookdale Elizabeth City remain on the congregant living outbreak list.

First and second doses, Wednesday, March 17: Camden Intermediate School, 3 to 6 p.m. or until depleted.

First dose, Wednesday, March 17, Currituck, Maple Park, near YMCA, 3 to 6 p.m. or until supplies run out. Must be a North Carolina resident.

First and second doses, Wednesday, March 17: Pasquotank, Elizabeth City Aviation Commerce Park, 2 to 6 p.m. or until supplies are exhausted.
