John 9:32, Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind.
This man points out a well known fact. Miracles don’t just happen. What has happened to him is unheard of. And yet, it happened, and it happened because Jesus made mud and put it on the man’s eyes, and the man washed as Jesus told him to, and he could see. If you take Jesus out of that account, it is an impossibility, something that just doesn’t happen.
But that is the point: Jesus, the Son of God, does extraordinary things, he does things outside the norm, things that cannot simply be explained, things that are miraculous, things that are unheard of. I wonder how many people Jesus healed as he walked this earth. John tells us that not everything Jesus did was recorded, if it were the world would not hold all the books. So, there is really no way for us to know. But we can know this; Jesus did many miracles, many things that there were no explanation for other than God. And he is still doing those things today. Oh, we look for other, more rational and more normal, answers. But the simplest answer is God does things that we cannot explain.
Haven’t you seen things like this happen as well? Sinners who repent and turn to God? Marriages that have been saved? Parents and children restored? Diseases healed? And though God certainly does work through many normal channels, sometimes those things have no real explanation, other than God. So, let’s realize that and give God the glory.
Father, thank you for undeniable blessings. In Jesus’ name amen.
