I am taking two art classes now and learning so much. It is a lovely joy to create and share. One day I hope to be a teacher to guide others but I have a long way to go. This week I proudly took to class a recent piece I created at home and wanted to share with my teacher. I was so hoping to receive her admiration. Not to be! Instead, she instructed me in how to make it better. Changes were necessary (did I say many changes!), shifts in color and the darks needed to be darker and the hard edges needed softening. Just when I thought I had learned it all, I was humbled. With an open mind and heart, I received her corrections for which I was very grateful for.

In our spiritual life, we often get over confidant and feel like there isn’t anything else we can learn. Or even if being spiritual is of no interest, but you live a good life, help others and are a model citizen, you may think you don’t need any teaching or instruction. But there is a better way. God is infinite. Pray for a yearning to be teachable and to learn more. In the Bible we can learn about marriage, being parents, taking care of others, being a friend. He outlines for us the rules to live by and so much more.  Like me, just when you think you know it all, you realize you know nothing at all! By seeking God and his teachings through the Bible He will honor your desire to learn and come closer. He will bring the right people into your life like He did me when I needed it most. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Psalm 32:8 ESV
