Col. Donna Kimberly Dougherty, USAF (Ret.) died April 15, 2021 of natural causes at home in Kill Devil Hills. Donna (Kim) served her country honorably in the United States Air Force for over 25 years.

Col. Dougherty was born on September 27, 1957 in Dunn to William and Helen Barbour.

She is survived by parents William and Helen Barbour; son Brett; daughters Diane and Hunter; brother Ken and sister Christy; and her husband Steven. She is preceded in death by husband Lt. Col William Bryant Dougherty.

The family has honored her directives for cremation. Her urn will be interred with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery, specific details to come. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Kim’s honor to your local SPCA.
